The trend among the youth to denounce education as a scam has become widespread, particularly in Africa. Even graduates agree, stating that time spent in school is wasted, as many do not use the skills they acquire. However, is education genuinely a scam?
WHAT IS EDUCATION?
Education is a process of teaching, training, and learning to improve knowledge and develop skills. With this definition in mind,
education cannot be considered a scam. Nonetheless, the real scam is the EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM, i.e., SCHOOLS.
Our indigenous schools are the actual scam. The mode of learning is substandard, and many of the courses are outdated.
Today, 6-month Coursera or Udemy courses provide superior value to what indigenous schools offer.
The main scam is lecturers and professors acting like mini-gods, threatening students for minor errors, exploiting them, and harassing them as they please.
Demanding excessive fees from students, providing substandard tools/equipment, and subjecting them to unfriendly and uninviting learning environments are all scams.
Lastly, wicked and uneducated politicians heading the education ministry are a dangerous scam.
CONCLUSION :
Education is not a scam, but the educational system, including indigenous schools, lecturers, and politicians, can be fraudulent.
Everyone should strive to be educated and develop new skills every day, be proactive about learning new things, and broaden your scope of learning beyond indigenous methods.
Never take any opportunity to learn something new for granted. You will thank yourself in the end.
